Roll Your Change Week

Did you know there is over $10 billion dollars in loose change sitting in homes and cars across America not earning a nickel of interest?  That breaks down to approximately $99 of loose change per family! 

During the week of October 23-28, 2006, you are invited to participate in the 1st Annual San Diego Saves Roll Your Change Week. The purpose of this event is to draw attention to the large amount of change in everyone's home and cars, and to show how easy it is to save.

So start today collecting all the loose change sitting around in your house or car and put it to work earning money for you!

When you do, you are eligible to enter a drawing to win a $1,000 Series I Savings Bond.

Here’s how:

• Find and collect all your loose change---be sure to look under the sofa, on top of your dresser, and in the console of your car!
• Pick up free coin wrappers at any participating bank or credit union (see list below)
• Roll all your coins in the free wrappers
• During the week of October 23-28, 2006 (only), take your rolled coins to a participating bank or credit union and deposit the rolled coins in a new or existing savings account.
• When you make your deposit, pick up an official entry form and enter a drawing to win a $1,000 Series I Savings Bond.

 San Diego Saves Week

February 25 – March 4, 2007

This new initiative will bring San Diego County organizations together in a joint effort to promote greater household savings. Based in part on Money Saves Weeks organized by the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank, it will serve as the pilot for Saves Weeks around the country and, perhaps eventually, inspiration for a National savings month endorsed by the United States Congress.
